Acts of compassion

What is the difference between compassion and Pity? The first raises us from our worst fears and encourages us to attain new heights, the second diminishes even as it pretends to aid. Compassion is born out of Love of the other, Pity is born of Love of the self.

To Love in a real sense is to be commited to exercise compassion, to move beyond the limitations of our selfishness and help others to grow tall.Sometimes we need to say what will not be well received but we say it because the other needs to hear it. The compassionate word in the right moment has the power to help us meet ourselves again- and in that moment we are given the possiblity to transform into our better self.

Love itself is not a feeling, but an action, and to live in Love we must be brave enough to confront our fears and act with Love everyday, particuarly when we speak a truth that will wound as it pierces consciousness.

If we are fortunate enough in our lives to have someone who is able to break through our illusions about ourselves we are fortunate indeed. It is human nature to conceal our weakness and failure, how much more difficult it is to hear our truth from the lips of someone who's opinion we hold dear.
If we are loved enough to be guided to who we are, then we are truly Blessed.
